The harvest takes place after the second ten days of October . The vinification follows the traditional method , with fermentation in contact with the skins and use of selected yeasts . The maturation then takes place in oak barrels for about 12 months , with a refinement in the bottle for at least 2 months .
The production area ranges between Pornassio, Acquetico, Nirasca and Armo , in the province of Imperia , in western Liguria .
The soils are alpine , with crystalline schists, quartzites, marly limestones, sandstones and conglomerates .
