Chianti Rufina Riserva “ Nipozzano ” is the symbol of the Tuscan winemaking tradition of Frescobaldi , produced with 90% Sangiovese grapes and also small percentages of Malvasia Nera , Colorino , Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon .
The castle of Nipozzano is an ancient stronghold defending Florence, this is the most famous and historic property of the Frescobaldi family and the family's excellent choice is testified by the name, Nipozzano, which means " without a well ", as proof that the area was poor in water , a perfect circumstance for the cultivation of vines.
The nose has fruity scents among which notes of black cherry, morello cherry and undergrowth stand out, enriched by floral hints of violet and fresh aromas of licorice. In the mouth it reveals a pleasantly heterogeneous tannic texture, a balanced freshness and a good liveliness, with a persistent finish.
Because thirty generations and over 700 years of history are the two "business cards" of the Frescobaldi company and this is a red that confirms its excellent quality standards , narrating one of the emblem DOCGs of "Made in Italy".
High quality and a centuries-old tradition, what more do you want?
A perfect Chianti to accompany grilled or grilled red meats , also ideal in combination with roasts , especially lamb, and lightly aged cheeses .
I advise you to let it 'breathe' for at least 15-30 minutes before drinking it, at a temperature of 18°-20°C .
The different grapes ferment separately, then the maceration lasts for 25 days with frequent pumping over . After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is placed in second and third passage barriques where it ages for 24 months , then once bottled it rests in the cellar for another 3 months .
We are located east of Florence, in the heart of Chianti Rufina , right on the mountainside overlooking the Arno river valley .
The soil has an arid skeleton , made up of stones , limestone and clay .
