What does "Cuvée" mean that we often hear?
The term "Cuvée" comes from French and refers to a specific batch of carefully selected and blended wine, in practice a cuvée is a blend or mixture of different types of wine or grapes, created with the aim of improving flavour, structure or other characteristics.
In the world of champagne or sparkling wines, cuvée often indicates a blend of different wines sometimes coming from different vintages, but even in non-sparkling, or "still" wines, there is the concept of cuvée where this blending takes place.
In summary, when we talk about cuvée we mean a mix created to achieve a specific flavor or profile objective, so much so that some producers create limited editions to always create new experiences through these experiments.

What are the differences between "Cuvée" and "Millesimato"? Let's clarify.
The main difference between Cuvée and Millesimato lies in the composition of the wines, the Cuvée is a blend of wines coming from different grapes or vintages, the Millesimato is a wine obtained exclusively from grapes harvested in the same year.
The term Millesimato derives from the French word "millésime", which indicates the vintage of a wine, wines of this type are often produced only in specific years with favorable climatic and agronomic conditions, a typology considered a special expression of that vintage.
"Millesimato" and "Cuvèe" are two terms that were introduced to define sparkling wines, in particular those produced with the Classic method, such as Champagne or Franciacorta.
It is not uncommon to find the term vintage associated with a Prosecco, in this case nothing technically wrong, it is equally true that a Prosecco is by definition vintage, given that it is produced with grapes of the same vintage, the indication vintage is therefore superfluous.
It often happens to find "vintage" and "cuvée" associated with still wines, this is not an error because these wines can also be produced with different grapes or from different vintages, however it must be admitted that the use of these "French" terms is more a commercial gimmick.
However, we must not forget that there are real experts in the use of these techniques, in particular the cuvée, for example the Lo Sparviere company produces wines in Franciacorta using this method to produce various types of wines.
In particular, the "Cuvée n.7" of Lo Sparviere is a product of territorial cultivations in the provinces of Brescia, the latest wine born from the Chardonnay grapes in the Sparviere house, combining the rigor and minerality deriving from the land.
A unique Franciacorta, whose grapes come from its own vineyards and the yields per hectare are kept very low, these are the origins of the organoleptic characteristics and delicate balance
Call long-time friends into the relationship and tell them you have a bottle for them, now you can boast that you know what "Cuvée" means.

In the case of Champagne, the cuvée takes on a particular value, each Maison produces a cuvée sans année that expresses the style of the Maison and it is the task of the Chef de Cave to create a product every year capable of always offering the same taste, starting from different wines .
Laurent-Perrier produces its Champagne Brut Rosé entirely with Pinot Noir grapes, a bubble with an unmistakable charm, synonymous with great style and elegance.
This champagne is a highly sought after product, in fact before 1968 it was practically impossible to find a non-vintage rosé Champagne, until the visionary Bernard de Nonancourt launched this cuvée.
Through its aromas this champagne takes you into a dream from which you would never want to wake up, whether it is for a gift or a special occasion this label is always a guarantee of success.

Finally we look at Axillo by Andrea Bruzzone , a sparkling wine produced with the cuvée method with a pleasant and intense foam and fruity aromas that mix with the hints given by the yeasts in long contact with the wine, we are in fact talking about a "bottom" wine : in fact the typical deposit present in the bottle amplifies and increases the sensation our taste bud experiences.
Sparkling wine from the ancestral method with which the producer has once again given proof of his incredible ingenuity.
It is a sparkling wine that, even if cloudy, is light, long-drinking, tasty, easy to drink, a carefree wine to drink lightly.

Making a cuvée is an art, made of experience, knowledge and sensitivity.
Therefore, the possibility of tasting a Classic Method or Champagne cuvée should not be relegated to festive days, there are many opportunities to uncork a good bottle and pay homage to the infinite ingenuity that each cuvée brings with it.
