VINOVE' SALES!!
A complex portrait that emerges from the numbers reflects the complexity and wide offering of Italian wine. Which, despite a difficult market context, sees many companies, although very different from each other, continue to grow and achieve important results on the market.
Marchesi Antinori excels in investments, with 26 million euros spent and in the vastness of its cultivated land, holding 3,350 hectares, including those in the USA and Chile. These data emerge from the ranking of the main Italian wineries curated by the economic journalist Anna di Martino, published in the “L'Economia” insert of the “Corriere della Sera”. The sector, made up of 75 private companies and 43 cooperatives, generated more than 9 billion euros in turnover in 2023, showing growth both nationally and internationally, despite a generally contracting market.
The maison is followed by Jermann in Friuli, known for its white wines, and the Tuscan estate Biserno, managed by Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi. Marchesi Antinori ranks fourth, while Marchesi Frescobaldi is fifth. In sixth place is the Santa Margherita Group, and Cusumano places seventh. New entries in the top ten for profitability include Pizzolato and Casa Paladin. Argiolas completes the top ten, followed closely by Donnafugata and Guido Berlucchi.
Regarding investments, Marchesi Antinori is at the top of the list, followed by Santa Margherita, Caviro, Frescobaldi and Cantine Riunite & Civ. In terms of extension of vineyards, Antinori holds first place, followed by Marchesi Frescobaldi and the Zonin 1821 Group. Among the companies with more than 1,000 hectares there are also Tenute del Leone Alato and the Terra Moretti group.
Anna di Martino's list also highlights the wineries with the greatest international exposure, led by Cantine Sgarzi Luigi, followed by Fantini Group and others. The analysis reflects the complexity and resilience of the Italian wine sector, which continues to expand despite the challenges of the global market.
