Description

Garitta di Cascina Garitina is a red wine from Monferrato , more precisely from Castel Boglione , in the province of Asti .

Here the Morino family owns 26 hectares in which they only grow red berried grapes , with particular attention to Barbera , which makes up 85% of the vineyards .

Garitta di Cascina Garitina is a Barbera in purity - that is made exclusively from Barbera grapes without other cuts of different vines - produced with artisanal methods by a family of generations of winemakers whose only goal is to create wines that are able to fully express the identity of the territory .

The result is a tasty and dynamic Barbera , with an enveloping fruit , absolutely worth trying .

Why you should drink it

Because it is a Barbera made by those who have been involved in producing Barbera for decades . An idea of the vine that aims at the representation of the territory , created by those who have lived the territory for generations. A winery that is not simply a cellar, but a coherent fusion of past and future .

When to uncork it

The first characteristics of Barbera are freshness and acidity , essential components for a wine suitable for aging .

So, if you like to drink it young , you will be struck by the immediacy of this wine , if instead you like to leave it for a while in the cellar , you can have fun discovering the evolution of aromas and flavors .

In any case, this Garitta di Cascina Garitina is excellent to drink with stuffed pasta or meat-based main courses. But we, who like to follow the customs of the places of production, also very gladly drink it as an aperitif .

How to drink it

It is a red wine with good structure , drink it at 16 ° -18 ° .

Vinification and Aging

After the manual harvest , the grapes are taken to the cellar , where a cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for four days (suitable for the extraction of aromas). After this first phase, the actual fermentation begins. The wine obtained is aged for a few months exclusively in steel , before being bottled without any filtration .

Territory

We are located in Alto Monferrato , in Castel Boglione . Here Cascina Garitina owns about 26 hectares of vineyards located at an altitude ranging from 240 to 320 meters above sea level. One of the strengths of the area is the Mediterranean climate , mild even in winter.

Soil

Mainly clayey , with a small percentage of silt and sand .
