The Barbaresco DOCG of the Ronchi winery , which since 1996 bears the name of one of the most prestigious Geographical Mentions of Barbaresco created at the end of the nineteenth century , is a red wine produced with the best Nebbiolo vines . It represents the maximum expression of Piedmontese oenology .
When poured, this wine has a bright garnet red color , while the nose is broad , with fruity aromas of raspberry , plums and strawberries , mixed with rhubarb jams and spicy hints .
On the palate it is full , warm with a very balanced tannin ; the finish is long and persistent .
Because this wine is the result of the processing of pure Nebbiolo grapes , the main vine of the Langhe and of the whole Piedmont region.
Barbaresco DOCG is a very elegant wine , not to be missed .
An elegant and warm red to be enjoyed in the company of the right , special people.
Imagine a late afternoon in the kitchen , cooking roasted red meats or roasted game , while your sweetheart prepares a small homemade aperitif and cuts some long-aged cheeses , such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Castelmagno .
Your glass of Barbaresco in your hand : you look at yourself . You are happy and you know it .
We recommend serving it in a large glass around 18 ° C.
If you can't drink it right away , keep it lying down, in the dark and away from vibrations and sudden changes in temperature: this wine gives its best up to 15-20 years after harvest .
Generally between the end of September and the beginning of October , the grapes are harvested strictly by hand . The vinification begins with the de- stemming and soft pressing of the bunches . Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature around 28-30 ° C in steel containers . Maceration with the skins lasts for 12-15 days . The maturation takes place partly in barrique and partly in large wood for about 22-24 months followed by bottling in May-June of the third year after the harvest . An adequate refinement in the bottle follows.
The vines , of 100% Nebbiolo grapes , are found in the Municipality of Barbaresco , in the geographical term "Ronchi" and a small vineyard near the farmhouse with an eastern exposure.
The soil is marly and calcareous , with clayey infiltrations , on average compact .
